WELL WELL WELL: I'm entering my terrible twos. Yessirree Bob. Two whole years. Unlike certain other people, I won't be sprucing my place up any--frankly, I was an Andrew Sullivan-inspired blog, and if he doesn't feel the need to make his blog any less ugly, neither do I (just in case you're wondering, this is almost certainly the post that convinced me to start blogging).
In the spirit of ridiculous navel-gazing which seems appropriate for birthdays and blogiversaries, and because I didn't really find it necessary to have other people reading for the first 1.5 years or so, I thought I'd point you to some things in my archives I remember fondly:
this has to go first, as it's my favorite OGIW moment, from a Saturday morning we were supposed to go to Detroit for an Urban Planning conference.
My auspicious beginning. Note the technological genius, the tendency to quote other people, and the ability to stake out a position offensive to both left and right. Some things never change.
the pro-war in Iraq argument, which I think still holds up pretty well.
the first of many arguments against the New Left.
I call the 2002 elections well in advance.
um, yeah
this is still one of my favorite stories about my family.
I still think this is a good idea.
