Really? Is this satire and I'm just not getting it?

In a world where we don’t have a lot of portraits of wounded masculinity, Louie almost single-handedly fills that quota.

I was unaware of this. If not for Louie, we wounded masculine types would just have to make do with David Foster Wallace, all those New York novelists I can never keep straight, Updike and Mailer and Saul Bellow, J.D. Salinger, Fight Club, American Beauty, approximately half of the Academy Award nominees for Best Picture in any given year, "sensitive jerks with acoustic guitars," etc etc etc.

There are two ways of getting things wrong. One is to try and fail to get it right. This is an example of the other way.
