Observation: social and political situations that seem to have easy solutions rarely do, and the velocity with which those obvious solutions are expressed is inversely proportional to how useful those proposed solutions are likely to be.
Case in point: man attempts to place bomb in shoe and blow it up on a plane.
Obvious solution: everyone has to take their shoes off at the airport, forever.
