You will, I imagine, find it as unsurprising as I did that this AV Club article about how pop culture changed the writers' views on religion a. contains exclusively moves from some form of religious belief to none whatsoever (or confirmation that no religious view is the appropriate one to have) and b. appears to have been motivated, in all cases, by rather mediocre cultural products (Marilyn Manson, really?).
The lack of belief in religion also seems to be coupled with the belief that all the essential matters pertaining thereto had been figured out by the age of 14 or so. Not to say that a 14-year old can't have a good picture of religion--just that they probably won't (in the same way a 14-year old is unlikely to have good pictures of anything), and the lack of intellectual curiosity is... disturbing.
