It's also remarkable to me the extent to which culture war issues have been heating up lately, which is uncomfortable for me as someone who likes to avoid them whenever possible.* So can we just go back to arguing about the economy?
*Not, let's say, out of any particular squeamishness concerning my views (which have remained mostly constant even as my mix of 'liberal' and 'conservative' has shifted over time), but rather because it's just not something I find to be very interesting, or find conversation about to be very productive.
