I'd like to point you to Phoebe's discussion of the "A Girl You Should Date" essay, on the troubling topic of stereotypical "girls who read" and the misogynist pseudo-intellectual men who love them. My complaint about the essay, registered in the comments, is that it assumes that a woman who reads will have, as her favorite book, one primarily concerned with finding the perfect man: ie a woman can read as long as her reading perpetuates those romantic stereotypes that will make it easier to land a husband.
