Adventures in culinary consumption: being a dude who cooks, or is gradually expanding the collection of things he can and does cook, I made mashed potatoes for the first time this evening. Specifically, Alton Brown's. They were good. And surprisingly easy!

How is it possible to have gone this long without mashing potatoes, you ask? Well, I always ever fried or baked them. If I wanted mashed I would get the instant (I changed my mind upon realizing that my favored brand gives you 50% of your daily sodium if you eat half the package). And on those occasions when I, say, hosted Thanksgiving (3.5 times, all successful), someone else was always making to potatoes. So, just another step on the road to maturity.
