You know, I'm starting to get a little disturbed about how much of the seemingly vacuous pop culture I consumed as a whippersnap was actually artsy or politically aware. Purely by accident, there were two pieces on the early-90s TGIF show Dinosaurs* (one at the AV Club and the other on Vulture) which made it sound like a half-decent bit of satire (the other half, as both pieces admit, was terrible). Was there anything in the 90s that was just a pure bit of lowbrow entertainment/cash grab?**

On the other hand, the prevalence of these shows in my viewing habits probably explains a lot about me.

Dinosaurs was awesome. I happily yelled "AGAIN!" constantly after I watched that show.
