For the record: my flight left on time, but 'weather developed' in Newark which led to: holding pattern over Pittsburgh, touching down in Pittsburgh to refuel, waiting to get back up in the air, holding pattern over central PA, holding pattern over different area of central PA. Then tram, train, and walking put me back at my office around 8:00, so the trip as a whole was only 10 hours. Never flying again.
On the plus side, a libertarian protip: I made it through O'Hare security much faster by opting out of the scanner. And the people who went through the scanner also seemed to be getting patted down. Better for liberty and my time.
