INDISPUTABLE FACT OF THE DAY:
2666 is the finest novel I've read in as long as I can remember.
Cakes and Ale, which I read in 2008, is the last book I remember being quite so instantly certain that I liked the novel itself, rather than my reaction to it. And 2666 is much better than Cakes and Ale.
