SUNDAY VARIOUS:
* I received an email notification for something called "The Huguenot Scholarship." I will be applying, not least because I'd love to list that on my c.v.
* Leland Ryken's book on Bible translation is interesting, and informative (though a little repetitive). It did, however, bring the two following verses to my attention, in a section on the perils of translation into 'modern' English (both are RSV):
"Tychicus will tell you all about my affairs" (Colossians 4:7)
"I will accept no bull from your house" (Psalm 50:9)
* I've been debating whether this song is any good, or at best just a re-hash of its component parts (Bruce Springsteen and The Replacements). (via whatevs)
