LINK: I want to get someone's opinion on whether or not this is a proper use of technology, so I'll link to the post. On the one hand: massively rude. On the other: encourages people from substituting online friendships for real ones (and limits one's use of facebook).

Whatever - you can dump me if you're hungry any day. Just add me back later. :-)

Haha. Dara's clearly right--the only way this could be justified is if you promptly added them again. You can dump facebook friends all you want, but never in the name of capitalism (especially since you keep such a streamlined number of facebook friends--this would really be the worst for you). You're the one who says you must do things for the right reasons. Burger King is never a right reason.

It might be attractive if the prize was something better than a whopper...I have plenty of facebook friends who are casual acquaintances at best and with whom I have hardly any relationship apart from the virtual link. I wouldn't have scruples about dropping them (but would likely just leave them on because of inertia), so why not get something out of it? But a whopper is insufficient for me to want to spend any time on this (apart from what I've just spent writing this comment).
