THIS IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT POLITICS: Diotima and the ridiculousness of organization names:
"This issue split the women's rights movement at the time. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, feeling betrayed by their fellow abolitionists, who refused to include women in the 15th Amendment, formed the National Woman Suffrage Association. Lucy Stone, Julia Howe and others formed the American Woman Suffrage Association, which remained the more conservative organization of the two up until their merger in 1890 (becoming, of course, the National American Woman Suffrage Association)."
